The unity of architectural design and beauty of the nature, so typical for Chinese architecture, was fully implemented in the creation of Chinese bridges, thrown across the Cross Canal. The striking example of authentic Chinese architecture is the Cross Bridge built by architect V.I. Neelov in 1779.
The arches of the bridge rise up sharply, with octagonal pavilion erected in the intercross section. The pavilion is faced with glazed bricks, and is topped by a curved roof designed in Chinese style. Four granite staircases lead to the pavilion. |
