The best places to cross-country ski in St. Petersburg during the winter season are in the nearby villages of Kavgolovo, Kuzmolovo and Sosnovo, where major ski centers are located. The village of Kavgolovo is St. Pbg’s version of ski resort and well-known for both Alpine and cross-country skiing. Major competitions are held there. Another beautiful place for x-country skiing is Pavlovskiy Palace Park in the suburb of Pavlosk.

In the city center you can ski at Park Pobedy on Moskovskiy prospekt near Metro Park Pobedy. Other popular spots are Primorskiy Park Pobedy on Krestovskiy Island and TsPKO (Central Park of Culture & Rest) on Yelagin Island. Take a taxi there, since buses are not frequent. You can still rent skis on site at the sports complexes at the parks.
