History note: "Vedomosti," the oldest Russian newspaper, had been published since 1711, first as a manuscript disseminated at the Tzar's palace. The newspaper was first published in 1711 during the reign of Peter the Great, providing information on the Northern War and on domestic and international politics. "Vedomosti" had a circulation of 500 and was sold at "Gostinyy Dvor."
