The highest official of St. Petersburg is called “The Governor” (Gubernator). The Administration of St. Petersburg (Administratsiya Sankt-Peterburga) actually “runs” the city. The Administration of St. Petersburg is run by a popularly elected Governor.
Many of the Governor’s Administration Offices are located in the Smolnyy Institute at Proletarskoy Diktatury pl., 1. The Governor has a number of deputy assistants and advisory staff. The major committees in the Administration are listed below.
