Try a box of Russian chocolates (Sho-kolad) which tends toward dark bittersweet or hard candy. Candy is sold by the pound in "confectionery" shops (Kondi-terskaya), see CONFECTIONERY & PASTRY SHOPS.
Candy bars and gum, Snickers, Cadbury, Mars, Wrigley's and others have become very popular and are sold not only at most supermarkets, but also in kiosks throughout the city. Gostinyy Dvor has a whole department selling candy by the pound.
