Flowers and house plants are popular gifts and well appreciated. In addition to flower shops, there are lots of open air markets throughout the city. Many metro stations also have flower sellers. The demand for flower is so intense that flowers are even flown in from Western Europe daily.
Etiquette: Always bring an odd number of flowers as a gift (1, 3, 5, etc.); even numbers are only for funerals.
Delivery and Orders: Some shops deliver flowers to your home or office. You can also send flowers internationally and many shops accept orders for custom bouquets.

The best flowers are often sold around MARKETS (Farmer's Markets, Kolkhoz Markets) and in the underpasses of metro stations, around metro stations on the Circle Metro Line and in most markets, and near cemeteries, including Novodeviche Kladbishche and Vostryakovskoe Kladbishche.
